Police and forensic experts today are examining the scene of a shooting in Dunedin which has left one man dead and another in Dunedin Hospital with gunshot wounds.
Police launched a homicide inquiry after a man was found dead at an Argyle St house in the Dunedin suburb of Mornington around 2pm yesterday.
A second man, believed to be older, was taken to hospital.
Inquiry head Detective Sergeant Malcolm Inglis, of Dunedin CIB, confirmed both men had been shot.
Police guarded the house overnight, and forensic and pathology experts began a scene examination today.
A Dunedin police spokesman said this morning it was unclear when police would be able to speak with with the man in hospital. His condition was not available.
No further details on the shooting were available.
