Dunedin police are this morning hunting for a man after a domestic-related attack left a 22-year-old woman in intensive care.
The armed offenders squad was called to a house in South Rd about noon yesterday. The suspect left the house with a young child, but the child was later found safe and well, the Otago Daily Times reported.
The AOS was later stood down but police were continuing to search for the man today, Dunedin police said.
Detective Senior Sergeant Kallum Croudis of Dunedin police would not give details of the woman's injuries or her male attacker yesterday, but said police knew who they were looking for.
The man was not considered a risk to the public.
