Organisers of an after-ball party in Hamilton have accused the police of unnecessary interference.
330 students from Hillcrest High School had bought tickets to a party planned for the Taupiri rugby clubrooms after the school ball.
However the organisers were warned by police to get rid of the alcohol or risk being fined up to $10,000 for supplying alcohol to minors.
On the night only 300 people turned up to the party - and there was no alcohol.
* Hillcrest High School sold 330 tickets to their after-ball party, not 450 as reported in an earlier story by the New Zealand Press Association.
