A woman who crashed her vehicle into a post office after going to look for her partner was found to be nearly two and half times over the limit, police say.
Police said the 49-year-old woman drove about 100m from her home in Renwick, 13km west of Blenheim, to the local tavern to look for her partner.
When she was unable to find him she attempted to drive home about 12.45am, but failed to make it crashing into Renwick Post Office.
Police said the woman escaped injury although her vehicle was extensively damaged.
She recorded a breath-alcohol reading of 973mcg and faced charges of driving under the influence and careless driving.
