KEY POINTS:
A man picked up for alleged drink-driving in Greymouth last night has 10 previous convictions for the same offence, police said.
A Greymouth police spokesman said the 34-year-old man was stopped for a random breath test in High Street at 11pm and blew a reading of 770 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.
The legal breath alcohol limit is 400 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.
The spokesman said the man would be appearing in Greymouth District Court on charges of drink-driving and driving while disqualified.
He has 14 previous convictions for driving while disqualified, along with his 10 previous convictions for drink driving.
"Obviously the drink-driving message just isn't getting through to some people," the spokesman said.
