A Northland woman driving seven children home after a party was almost twice over the legal breath alcohol limit, a court has been told.
Sally Pene, 35, was last week sentenced in Kaitaia District Court to 100 hours community service for driving with excess breath alcohol for a third or subsequent time, the Northern Advocate reported.
She was also sentenced to six months' supervision and disqualified from driving for one year and one day.
Pene was found to be almost twice the limit when she was stopped by police on State Highway 1 in Kaitaia on March 14.
