A young Eastern Bay of Plenty woman has been arraigned on charges relating to the death of a schoolgirl in a hit-and-run accident at Matata last year.
Karma Jasmine McIvor, 22, of Te Teko, was further remanded on bail when she appeared briefly before Judge Louis Bidois in Tauranga District Court today.
The next call-over will be on February 26.
McIvor has pleaded not guilty to drink driving causing death, drink driving causing injury and failing to stop and ascertain injury.
The charges relate to the death of Stevie-Rae Marks on August 21. She and two other girls were hit by a car while walking home along Mair St in the township of Matata.
A depositions hearing in November heard that McIvor allegedly had a breath alcohol level of almost twice the legal limit when she veered onto the wrong side of the road and struck the three teenagers.
