Bugged conversations played in court yesterday revealed how former All Black Josh Kronfeld regarded drugs he had received from an Auckland businessman as "hellish" and that he would save some for "little special moments".
A number of bugged conversations - involving Kronfeld and former league star Brent Todd - were played during a depositions hearing in the Auckland District Court for alleged drug kingpin John Francis Waterworth.
He faces 28 charges relating to the possession and supply of drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine and cannabis. Another man, Adamu Shazizi Awahdi, faces charges relating to the possession and supply of ecstasy.
Both Waterworth and Awahdi were yesterday committed for trial. They have entered not-guilty pleas.
In court yesterday police alleged the bugged conversations were between Kronfeld, Todd and Waterworth. During the conversations another celebrity was implicated as a hard-drug user.
That person has a court order suppressing name and any other identifying details.
In one conversation, in which police yesterday alleged the voices were of Todd, Kronfeld and Waterworth, Waterworth says: "Hey, that last little bit I gave ya, ... that was mean skunk, wasn't it?"
Kronfeld says: "Aw, man, it was hellish ..."
He went on to say he had a little bit left and would save it for "little special moments".
At another point in the conversation Waterworth says: "Do you want a little bit of dak?"
Kronfeld answers, "No, no, he wants a little bag to share this".
Waterworth refers to the celebrity, saying the celebrity had texted him a couple of times but he had not responded.
Todd says "Josh" and tells how the celebrity had come up to him when he was out and "starts talking about coke and blah, blah, blah and every-thing ..."
He says the celebrity said they would love to know where to get it.
"I said ... um aw, well, I know someone who could probably look after you who is, who is pretty discreet ..."
