The US Food and Drug Administration is investigating a possible link between drug company Merck's best-selling Singulair allergy and asthma drug and suicide. The FDA said it was reviewing a handful of reports involving mood changes, suicidal behaviour and suicide in patients who have taken the drug.
The New Zealand Government's drug safety watchdog, Medsafe, yesterday advised patients to continue taking their Singulair medication. If they had concerns they should talk to their doctor. "It will be some time before this review is complete."
