Drug raid closes Christchurch street

Police in Christchurch carried out a drug squad raid on a suburban St Albans house this morning.

Police cordoned a block of Barbadoes St between Edgeware Rd and Canon St while they searched the house.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Long said the police armed offenders squad assisted in the search, but there was no danger to the public.

At one stage this morning a hazardous chemicals unit, four police cars and a fire command truck were at the house.

"Some items of interest were recovered and police are speaking to the occupants in relation to the items found there," Mr Long said.
