A person has drowned near Ruakaka Beach in Northland.
Emergency services were called to the beach near Marsden Point, about 10km north of the patrolled area of Ruakaka Beach.
The Ruakaka surf club were not involved in the incident, but a spokesman said they had been told the person had drowned.
A St John ambulance spokeswoman confirmed the patient was deceased at the scene.
However, she did not know the patient's gender or any details of the incident.
