Schools in Vanuatu have received the benefit of an earthquake safety message from the heart of Tararua.
Two staff members of Tararua District Council have returned from visiting Vanuatu, as part of a group of volunteers delivering a container-load of educational supplies.
Included, according to the council's latest newsletter, were 10 "Drop, Cover, Hold" drawstring backpacks, donated by district resilience manager Paddy Driver.
These proved popular, especially with the Ministry of Education which had just completed an earthquake awareness campaign.
The donated bags were filled and distributed to 10 kindergartens on a remote island north of Efate, the nation's most populous island.
