A 23-year-old man who led police on a high-speed chase, has pleaded guilty to stealing a car, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, drink driving and burglary.
Hayden Pool pleaded guilty on all charges in front of Judge Barbara Morris in Masterton District Court on Friday.
In December last year, the court heard from police prosecutor Sergeant Garry Wilson, who said Pool had burgled a Napier home on August 30 and on a later date when police saw him driving at speed, he took off from them leading the officers on a high-speed chase reaching speeds between160km/h and 180km/h in a 50km/h zone and a 30km/h road works zone.
When the car stopped Pool took off and was caught by a police dog which bit him.
Pool's lawyer Peter Stevens requested bail but was denied by Judge Morris. Pool was remanded in custody until sentencing in March.
