KEY POINTS:
A Wellington taxi company has been taken to court by three of its drivers who say they are missing out on lucrative jobs because of favouritism.
The three drivers said a select group of Hutt & City Taxis drivers, from a pool of more than 120, were given the best paying jobs, The Dominion Post reported.
They cited trips to Wellington Airport that usually returned a fare of about $75.
Nelson Manak, Chandra Naidu and Kamleshwar Singh said they had lost about $100,000 in the past six years because the computer system used to assign jobs was being bypassed or manipulated.
The three also want a manager appointed to maintain fair job allocation and $25,000 each for the anxiety they have suffered.
"I have been abused and discriminated against and made to feel like a bad guy for simply trying to ensure the system operated fairly," Mr Manak said.
However, the company's lawyer said that, contrary to Mr Manak's claims, the records showed he was doing many more airport jobs than one of the drivers he had said was favoured with work.
