Parents could be forced to walk their children to a Tauranga school and the youngsters made to cross a dangerous road in mass groups after two near- misses at a busy intersection.
Brookfield Primary School principal Anton Prinsloo said he was considering scrapping the "lollipop" road patrols on Bellevue and Otumoetai roads after two students were nearly hit. Vehicles were "just not stopping" to let children cross, he said.
Staff will decide today whether to scrap the patrol system, forcing parents to walk their children to school in the mornings instead.
