KEY POINTS:
Motorists leapt from their cars and scrambled after $800 in cash blowing across the Northwestern motorway yesterday morning.
Inspector Gavin Jones from the Northern Communications Centre said the money had come from a "manbag" left on the roof of a car.
About 300m north of the Te Atatu onramp the bag fell off the roof and a wallet flew out, releasing a bundle of notes that were caught by the wind. Several motorists stopped their cars and tried to collect the money but most blew into the harbour.
