The man charged in relation to a hit-and-run incident in South Auckland last week, Andrew Dowling, 35, appeared in the Manukau District Court yesterday to have an application for bail heard.
He faces charges of dangerous driving causing injury, aggravated careless driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, and unlicensed driving.
He was remanded in custody until March 8 but bail would be reconsidered at an appearance on February 20.
He was arrested two days after hit-and-run victim Lincoln Hapeta, 16, was struck by a van in Mangere on Friday night.
