The driverless RS7 Sportback took a little over two minutes to complete a lap of the 4.6-kilometre circuit, using a super-accurate GPS system, forward-facing camera system, and a comprehensive on-board networking system to operate its steering, throttle valve, brakes, eight-speed automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel-drive system.
"The top performance by the Audi RS7 today substantiates the skills of our development team with regard to piloted driving at Audi," said Audi AG board member for technical development, Professor Ulrich Hackenberg.
"The derivations from series production - particularly in terms of precision and performance - are of great value for our further development steps."
