A driver who hit and killed an elderly man in a South Auckland driveway has been arrested and charged with assault.
The 21-year-old man drove his vehicle into 72-year-old Otahuhu man Sione Lauano outside a Mangere house on June 4, police said.
Mr Lauano died in hospital the following day.
The driver appeared in Manukau District Court yesterday charged with assault. He was given interim name suppression until June 15.
Police said an investigation into the circumstances leading up to the Mr Lauano's death was underway and more charges were possible.
