A driver from Singapore who caused fatal crash near Clinton last month has been jailed for 21 months and ordered to pay $18,000 to the woman whose father was killed in the accident.
Kok Wei Ko, a 26-year-old engineer, was also disqualified from driving for two-and-a-half years.
In Dunedin District Court, Judge Stephen O'Driscoll has directed his sentencing notes be typed and provided to Michelle Squires, the daughter of 82-year-old Neville Squires, the man who died.
Her injuries meant she was unable to be present at sentencing.
Ko pleaded guilty last week to one charge of dangerous driving causing the death of Mr Squires and four charges of dangerous driving causing injury to Ms Squires and three Singaporean passengers.
