Masterton police have released details of why they are seeking an elderly man known to have been driving a white Subaru car in Michael St last Friday.
The man is said to have pulled up alongside an intermediate school-age boy who was on an organised school run and to have tried to entice him into the vehicle.
The incident happened about 12.30pm and the man, described as being an elderly white male with grey hair, a grey beard and moustache, and of medium to solid build, allegedly offered the boy incentives to get into the car, including a promise to buy him fast food.
His attempts to lure the boy into the car failed and a description of the car and man was later given to police.
Police report the suspect was wearing a blue, checked Swanndri, an old light blue cap, ripped light coloured trousers and black leather shoes.
