A 68-year-old Westport man who failed to give way in the town early yesterday ran into another vehicle - a police patrol car.
Police staff said the man, who also happened to be a disqualified driver, was extremely drunk and blew 842mg.
Meanwhile, a 53-year-old Hokitika man was "too drunk" to blow into the bag, when stopped by police north of Hokitika yesterday. He subsequently underwent a blood-alcohol test and will face drink-driving charges.
Late in the day on Saturday another Hokitika man, aged 46, was stopped by police and blew 449mg.
