KEY POINTS:
A Gisborne man is facing a raft of charges after a dramatic police pursuit last night.
Police say the chase started at around nine o'clock after a vehicle was pulled over in a random road-side stop. It is alleged the driver then raced off, heading north of the town on State Highway Two.
Road spikes punctured his front tyres, but he kept driving for another 20 kilometres on only the rims of the car's front wheels. He eventually stopped and was arrested.
Two police cars were also damaged in the pursuit.
