Emergency workers are trying to free the driver of a truck which has "tipped over" on State Highway 1, just north of the Bryderwyn Range Hills in Northland.
Inspector Peter Raynes, of Auckland, said the northbound lane of the highway was blocked by the incident, which occurred just before 1pm about 200 metres north of the bottom of the hills.
Diversions are in place, but he did not have any other details about what had happened.
Meanwhile, police are also at the scene of a vehicle crash on SH45, between South and Lower Glen rds, the south Taranaki settlement of Kaupokonui.
Emergency services are working to extract the sole occupant of the vehicle. Motorists are being told to delay travel or avoid the area till the stretch of road has reopened.
Details of the man's injuries, and those of the truck driver trapped in the Northland incident, are not yet available.
