KEY POINTS:
Palmerston North police are investigating reports of an attempted abduction of a teenaged girl on her way to school this morning.
Constable Andrew Royd said the 13-year-old was walking along Koromiko Street about 8.40am when she was approached by a man in a car who said he would give her a lift to school.
She refused and he grabbed her by the arm through the car's window. The girl escaped his grip before he sped off towards Rangiora Avenue.
The man was described as tanned, in his early 20s, medium build, and wearing a black hoodie with a dark baseball cap underneath the hood. He was clean shaven with a low, rough voice.
The vehicle was described as a dirty white, old style four-door car, with a smokey exhaust and brightly coloured "gangster" type letters on the rear window.
Mr Royd said the girl did a great job of describing the man and his vehicle.
