A teenager was airlifted to hospital after his car plunged 15m down a bank in the Coromandel this morning.
The 19-year-old man from Marton was driving on Colville Rd, north of Coromandel, when the car lost control and rolled down a bank about 10.30am.
Senior Sergeant Juliet Burgess said the man's vehicle left the road and tumbled 15m down a bank "onto rocks by the sea".
She said there was just one car involved in the crash, and the man was the only person in the vehicle.
When emergency services arrived, they worked to free the man from the vehicle, Ms Burgess said.
