KEY POINTS:
A Korean driver who crashed his tourist coach resulting in three passengers losing an arm escaped a custodial sentence at Tokoroa District Court today.
Seong Won Lee, 40, was convicted on 13 counts of careless driving causing injury after an accident on February 10, when the Smile Coach he was driving with 16 Korean tourists onboard overturned and slid sideways, 12km south of Tokoroa.
Three woman passengers, aged 18, 19, and 34, had their right arms amputated after the crash.
Today Lee was given 100 hours community service, banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay reparations of $1000 to each of the three amputees.
