Police are looking for the driver of a van that overturned on the Hurunui River bridge, North Canterbury, this morning.
Inspector Mike Coulter, of the police southern communications centre, told NZPA the driver had "done a runner" after the crash about 6.30am.
Mr Coulter said police sent dogs into the area, but they had been unable to find a trail.
No one appeared to have been hurt in the crash and the van driver was apparently the sole occupant.
Mr Coulter said the van blocked one lane of the bridge for a time after it overturned.
