A father fed-up with boy-racers on his Auckland street was stunned when a driver pulled an air gun on him last night.
Sauleone Faitaua heard cars doing wheelies on Hepburn Rd in Glendene and left his house to investigate. "We thought they were going to come through the fence, the noise was so loud."
As he approached, a car stopped at a group of shops across the road. "He drove up and pointed the gun at me." Faitaua described the gun as short and black. It is believed to have been an air gun. Faitaua's wife, Louisa, said the street was frequently used by boy-racers. "People like to come here and do spins. We're all shocked and scared."
They described the driver as white, aged in his late 20s.
Another neighbour, who declined to be named, was standing opposite the car with her 11-year-old daughter.
They had lived in their home for two months she said, and had been concerned about boy racers speeding along the street.
