Police have released the name of a man killed in a crash at Mt Pleasant in Christchurch this morning.
He was Joshua John Burgess, 27, of Christchurch.
He was the sole occupant of a vehicle travelling west on the Main Road causeway which crashed about 3.10am.
"Our initial enquiries indicate that the vehicle failed to take a moderate left-hand bend at the western end of the causeway, and hit a power pole near the intersection with The Brae,'' Inspector Doug Parker said.
"The investigation is ongoing and while it is too early to speculate on the causes of the crash, there are clear indications that speed was a factor.''
