KEY POINTS:
Police investigating the death of a motorist in Edgecumbe, near Whakatane, this morning said the car may have left the road after the driver died at the wheel.
The car was found in a paddock around 7.30am.
The deceased was the sole occupant and no other vehicles appeared to have been involved.
