A drunk driver who backed his car into a policewoman, shattering her pelvis and breaking four bones, was jailed for 13 months yesterday.
Ioelu Peniamina, 46, was also disqualified from driving for 18 months and ordered to pay $500 reparation at a sentencing hearing in the Auckland District Court.
He registered 877 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath when he hit Constable Bryony Brown on July 30, 2008, after he was stopped for driving without headlights.
