A 54-year-old man is dead after being hit by a car in south Auckland early today.
The incident occurred in Church St in Otahuhu around 3am.
The man was taken to Middlemore Hospital but died from his injuries soon after.
A police spokesman said the driver of the car which hit the man was co-operating with police, and there was nothing to suggest it was a hit and run or domestic-related.
The vehicle would be examined by Environmental and Scientific Research and Land Transport Safety Authority experts during the next few days.
The dead man's name has not been released.
