Driver in Waikato crash dies of injuries

The 18-year-old driver of a car that crashed into a concrete power pole in Ngaruawahia, Waikato, early on Sunday has died.

Joseph Harrison died overnight in Waikato Hospital, police said.

Joseph Tipene, who was a passenger in the car, remains in critical condition in the hospital's intensive care unit.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
