KEY POINTS:
The driver of a car that crashed into two other vehicles three weeks ago, killing a woman and badly injuring a man, has been arrested for assault, police said today.
They said Tony Worrell, 49, from the west Auckland suburb of Henderson, was expected to face further serious charges.
Worrell, who was arrested this morning, is due to appear in Manukau District Court this afternoon facing two counts of assault.
They arise from an incident on June 3, when Worrell's car collided with one driven by Katie Powles, 26, and another driven by Brent Robinson, 42.
Ms Powles, who was recently married, was fatally injured.
Worrell received head injuries and needed hospital treatment.
Detective Inspector Mark Gutry said police had been waiting for medical guidance for an opportunity to speak to Worrell.
Mr Gutry said further serious charges were expected to be laid.
