A logging truck driver has fallen from his truck this morning and suffered serious leg injuries.
The Palmerston North-based rescue helicopter was dispatched to the Karioi Forest on the Central Plateau about 10.30am.
A St John ambulance road vehicle stabilised the Marton man, aged in his 50s, before he was airlifted to Wanganui Hospital.
The rescue helicopter was used due to the "time-critical nature of the injuries and the significant road journey distance to hospital", emergency services said.
