KEY POINTS:
A young speedway driver is in Waikato Hospital after an accident at Bay Park Speedway in Tauranga last night.
The 19 year-old is being assessed for head injuries he received when his sprint car crashed, and rolled upside down. He was initially taken to Tauranga Hospital after the accident, and later transferred by road to Waikato as it was too foggy for a helicopter flight.
No other cars were involved in the crash, and there were no injuries to spectators.
