A driver is in hospital after being ejected from his vehicle when it crashed into a bridge on the West Coast of the South Island.
The 30-year-old Runanga man was flown to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries following a crash on State Highway 6 at the Cobden Bridge, near Greymouth, about 10.40pm last night.
The road was closed for most of the night and serious crash investigators are returning to the scene this morning.
The road is expected to be closed until about 1pm today while the crash investigation is completed.
Diversions are in place at Taylorville and Stillwater.
