KEY POINTS:
A driver got into difficulty last night after a road in Whitianga flooded.
The fire service was called shortly after 7pm but shift manager Scott Osmond said the driver was not trapped.
Mr Osmond said police closed Wade Rd where it meets State Highway 25.
Meanwhile, the MetService is forecasting heavy rain for parts of the Hawkes Bay today.
Forecaster Bob Lake said the rain would ease this morning in Gisborne while there was a risk of some heavy falls in the ranges between Waipukurau and Mohaka in the Hawkes Bay.
