A driver with serious injuries had to be freed from a car after crashing into a power pole north of Christchurch tonight.
The car smashed into a power pole on South Eyre Rd, in Oxford about 10pm and the driver became trapped.
A Fire Service spokesman said they had to free the driver from the car.
A rescue helicopter is on its way to the scene, and a St John spokesman said the driver has "critical injuries".
They are being rushed to Christchurch Hospital for treatment.
