A Nelson bus driver has been found guilty of careless driving after a schoolboy was dragged 20m along the road when his foot got caught in the door.
Judge Tony Zohrab made the ruling against Suburban Bus Ltd driver Manfred Konrad Dickgiesser in the Nelson District Court this week, the Nelson Mail reported.
Dickgiesser had denied the charge, on the basis his actions were not careless.
But the judge found his operation of the bus fell below the standard of a reasonable and prudent bus driver.
Dickgiesser was ordered to pay $450 to the injured 13-year-old student, and was disqualified from driving for six months.
