A driver escaped unhurt after the logging truck he was driving caught fire in Northland this morning.
Fire service spokesman Jaron Phillips said firefighters contained the blaze just after 11am today on Pipiwai Rd, 35 kilometres northwest of Whangarei.
He said they were still trying to stop 400 litres of spilled diesel from the truck from entering a nearby stream.
He said no one was injured in the fire, which was thought to be caused by a vehicle fault.
Police, three fire appliances from Whangarei and Kamo, and a St John ambulance are at the scene and motorists heading north are being turned back.
