A driver died on Auckland's Southern Motorway when his car smashed into a centre barrier and rolled five times.
The Saturday morning crash that killed the 25-year-old driver occurred between the Ellerslie-Panmure and Southeastern Motorway interchanges.
Inspector David Robertson said two other men in the car suffered critical injuries, one after he was flung from the car. They were in a stable condition in Auckland City Hospital.
The Southern Motorway was closed for three hours from the Ellerslie-Panmure Highway to the Mt Wellington interchange.
