Driver dies in single car crash in Bay of Plenty

One person is dead after a single car accident on State Highway 5 at Torere, east of Opotiki.

Inspector Karon Klink of the police northern communications centre said the crash happened about 9.30pm last night and the driver, a Tauranga resident, died later in Whakatane Hospital.

A police crash investigation team will examine the scene this morning.
