A young man has died after his car hit a power pole in Hawke's Bay overnight.
The crash occurred on Te Mata Mangateretere Road in Havelock North, near the intersection of Te Mata Road, at around 4.20am.
Emergency services found the male occupant of the car was dead when they arrived at the scene, police said.
He was believed to have been in his late teens.
The occupants of a house nearby called emergency services after they heard the car smash, police said.
