The driver of a car which was struck by a van which was reportedly speeding the wrong way down a Christchurch street has died.
Michael James Burnby, 44, died in Christchurch Hospital from injuries he suffered in Saturday's smash, police said this afternoon.
The collision took place on Salisbury St in the city.
The van driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, was thrown from vehicle and died at the scene. The two occupants of the car were rushed to hospital.
At the time police said CCTV footage showed the van speeding the wrong way along the road prior to the crash.
