The driver of a vehicle that crashed into a tree yesterday afternoon near Martinborough had to be cut out but escaped uninjured.
Featherston chief fire officer Garry Jackson said the vehicle had slid off the road and the driver had been trapped by the steering column.
There was one passenger in the vehicle.
"Both looked like they were OK. They used cutting gear to get the driver out," Mr Jackson said. The crash took place on Fraters Rd in South Wairarapa just before 4.30pm.
