A person has been injured after the van they were driving crashed into a group of cows in the Waikato this morning.
Northern Fire Service shift manager Scott Ormond said firefighters from Mangatangi, Mercer and Tuakau needed to cut a person free from the wrecked vehicle after it struck two cattle on Mangatangi Rd - off State Highway 2 - near Maramarua.
Inspector Cornell Kluessien said conditions were foggy when the van ploughed into the roaming cattle.
The driver was moderately injured and was taken to Middlemore Hospital for treatment.
There was nobody else travelling in the van when the accident happened.
