A critically injured driver is to be airlifted to Dunedin Hospital after a serious crash in North Otago this morning.
The collision, between a truck and a car, happened at Baghdad Creek just south of Hampden, about 30km south of Oamaru. Police have closed State Highway One until at least 9am.
A St John spokeswoman told NZPA the driver of the car would be airlifted to Dunedin and was "very critical".
The truck had gone over a bank but the condition of the truck driver was not known.
Emergency services are still at the scene and delays should be expected.
