The driver of a car which hit a pedestrian in the Waikato on Tuesday night was not to blame for the man's death, police say.
A sudden death investigation was launched after the body of 20-year-old Brendon Maurice Wilson, of Hamilton, was found at about 9.35pm just south of Ngaruawahia.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Whitehead said today that police had spoken to a number of people who had seen Mr Wilson before he was hit and had been able to reconstruct his activities.
"We are satisfied that given the actions of the deceased and the weather conditions at the time, no blame rests with the driver of the vehicle involved," Mr Whitehead said.
Police would still like to speak to anyone who had contact with Mr Wilson or saw a person on State Highway One near the Ngaruawahia Golf Course on Tuesday night.
Mr Wilson's death has been referred to the Coroner.
